I’m still alive. I haven’t been feeling very motivated to knit of late…I have lots of plans but not enough time, you know?
I’ve been working on my clapotis scarf, about 2/3 of the way through…It’s kind of arduous and painstaking.
One night I made a tiny camel for my friend…

I like making camels.
So, I was just checking in briefly. Ileave you now with a picture of a pretty spiffy picture from Twilleys No. 716, an 80s pattern booklet I bought for funny points for 50 cents. This guy is some hot stuff… Is it weird that I think the sweater could look cool on a girl?

I’ve kind of forgotten about this blog lately…then I remembered it. Clearly.
Everything’s been a bit hectic lately, as I recently had my first year 11 exams…I passed everything! That’s more than a surprisingly large number of people can say. I passed well in some subjects, coming in the top of Biology (although I only got 78%) and English Literature…at 97%!!!! I rock at english! I’m great at being humble =D
I have actually been doing some knitting…and a little crocheting too…
I made some Mighty Boosh mittens. The Boosh is a favorite show of mine, although it may be too evolved for some… The mittens are made from some random bits and bobs in my stash…the purple and black are merino, and the grey is truly a mystery…
I had a think about my Sweetheart, and I decided that I probably wouldn’t wear the finished product. So I have decided to modify the design by having a buuton down feature on the front, making the sleeves full length, dying the finished product to a pretty green (aiming for the colour of the fingernails in the collage) and adding an embroidered, sketchish aquatic animal (inspired by this necklace on Etsy). It seems ambitious but I really just want to use this project to experiment with techniques. If it doesn’t work so be it, but it will be fun to do.

I started an Inga’s Haekelbeutel bag using a soy/cotton blend from spotlight and some Mango Moon Bali Sky yarn…
I frogged a disatrous attempt at a cowl using Noro Tubu (Which is essentially just an overgrown i-cord marketed as yarn) and reknitted it into something (I hope) better. I then used my dog (Gertie!) to model it.
I made my friend Samm a panda hat for her birthday (at her request) out of black and white acrylic. She likes it.
One of my Dad’s cats got his eye removed. There was a growth on the eyelid. It was removed but it could have caused more problems later, as he’s always had problems with that eye, and as he’s 16.5 years old it was better to take it out than have to traumatise him with lots of operations. He had to wear a cone on his head.
In other cat news, my Mum got a new one. Hugo is a ragdoll kitten and is pretty much the cutest thing ever. It was crap when we got him because he was really lethargic and we thought he was just tired. He got worse and worse and was vomiting and had diarrhoea, so he was rushed to the vet. We found out he’d had a fever and had some virus. The breeder didn’t offer to contribute to the vet bills even though he was ill when we bought him. He’s happy and palyful now though so all is well.
I have been bribed with chocolate to knit 3 scarves for a family friend out of this ‘georgeous’ yarn she bought. One was OK but the other two were vomit worthy… they were different kinds of NOVELTY YARNS tied together to make hideous scarves of striped novelty yarns…It made me shudder. I don’t think I’ll be posting the novelty yarn scarves. They cause me too much pain.

It’s the school holidays currently, so I’ve been getting a decent amount of crafting done. I’ve finished those pesky lacy gloves, and a quick piece of instant gratification: an adorable and bulbous little purse.

The gloves have their imperfections, but they turned out pretty well in the end. I loooove the purse! It’s so round and plump and sweet, with its little removable wrsit band (made from ribbon and jewellery making stuff) and the little bow embellishment! It was very quick, and I got to combine several media to create a funky little gift for Jess, a family friend who is turning 15 later this week.
A couple of weekends ago I went to Margaret River to look at some of the various attractions around the area, and while there I went in to a second hand book shop. While there, I found a pile of cheap old pattern booklets!
They weren’t that old, and most of the designs weren’t very wearable, but they are pretty hilarious to look at. I got four booklets for $1.70.

Pictures of the innards to come later…
I have been working on my Sweetheart, and I’m up to the armholes of the back piece…

Well…It’s finished. Not really to my satisfaction but…finished.

I couldn’t be stuffed doing the ministripes for the whole thing, so I used bolder stripes for a front and the sleeves. My weaving in was crappy, I didn’t have time to block before i gave it away, and I crocheted around the fronts and neckline which just looked messy. It turned out very very badly. But oh well…I have started a new project…a sweater that’s actually for ME!!
I’m using birthday yarn to make ‘Sweetheart’ from Domiknitrix! I cast on on wednesday and I’m nearly finished the part of the waist which is worked in the round. I’m progressing quite quickly…I’m so pumped!

It was my 16th birthday last weekend! It was epic. I had a bouncy castle.

And I got some awesome presents…which I chose…
From my Mummy a Pandora bracelet…

Most of the charms are from my Mum: An owl, a ball with hearts on it, a bow spacer, a dice, a ghostie, a snake and a floral safety chain, and the present and the snowman are from friends (incidentally, both of whom are called Emma)
From my dad I got funky new blue low cut converse with bronze eyelets and stitching and a black sole, and I got a fully epic NAMASTE KNITTING BAG. It’s the ‘Zuma’ model in Eggplant. It has this random pocket at the front that makes it look like it has a mouth…a muppet mouth! It’s very pretty.

Nom nom nom…
And I got some yarn from my awesome Poppy! It’s from Bendigo Woolen Mills! You get a LOT of yummy yarn there for very good prices. I have 4 balls of Camille (Wool/Mohair/Cashmere) and 1 each of Mystique (Wool/Mohair/Alpaca), Aran (Wool) and Rustic (Wool).

I’m going to use Camille and Mystique (the sea green one) to make Sweetheart from Domiknitrix, then hopefully use the leftover Mystique for a beret I saw on Ravelry, and the other two are for my own hat designs!
I’m working furiously to finish the @#$%ing baby jumper. I have done both fronts and I’m doing the sleeves simultaneously. I’m seriously OVER endless garter stich. *Mutters darkly*

So yeah..
I probably don’t knit fats enough to uphold an interesting blog so…i’ll talk about other stuff.
I am currently like super majorly wicked pumped. I got 100% on my first english assessment of the year! Woo! Top of the top english class! So yeah I feel majorly awesome.
Then I had a maths test, which ?I probably failed…it was really confusing. Nobody in the class got it…But then I remembered my english results and smiled
In other news, my rabbit is a ninja. I walking her (by walking I mean putting a harness and lead on her and making sure she doesn’t run away) and it was time for her to go back to hutch land. She was under a bush, so I tried to gently get her out by pulling her lead. Eventually I got her out. When I proceeded to lean over to try to pick her up, she leapt up to knee height, flipped herself around and SUNK HER RABBITTY FRONT TEETH INTO MY KNEEFLESH. I was left with a large purple hole in my knee. It was an odd experience.
And now for something completely different: the reason behind the ‘Goody Two Shoes’ thing: I am a goody two shoes. Essentially, because I hate being told what to do. By doing what I’m meant to, I ensure that I am rarely ordered around. It’s a good system…

So…I’ve progressed a bit on the baby jumper, I’m about halfway through the front panel I’m making. It’s not a very portable project, so when I go between my parents’ houses I can’t fit it in my school bag, and therefore I can only work on it in one house at a time. I have started a portable project, however…my first socks! Not really worth photographing just yet, as I’ve only done a couple of rounds, but I’m pretty excited. I am making ‘No Green Socks’ by Samantha Edgerly, from Ravelry, using Grignasco Strong Print yarn…I haven’t worked out how to do links yet…Search for them on Ravelry?
Anywho, I started my second last year of high school on Monday. I don’t know how much knitting time i’ll have this year, because I’m going to have a LOT of homework. I’m doing courses in English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology…Plus art but not in exammy kind.
Anyhow here’s a photo of my right front panel for Ruby’s cardi…plus you can see the picture of what it’s going to look like when it’s finished…

Hi, I’m Anna.
So…
I learnt to knit when I was about 8 years old, but I really got into it when I was 13. Since then I’ve been teaching myself all the tricks of the trade and such from the gazillions of knitting books which I have accumulated… I like books, and I have a lot. You see I love searching for all these wonderful patterns on Ravelry, falling in love with a knitting book and then getting it etc. So the result is I have heaps of patterns I really want to use, but I have yet to make myself a sweater or even a pair of socks. I always seem to make things for other people more than I do for me. Well, I plan to change that this year. I know, I’m a horrible person. But I don’t really care.
I taight myself to crochet like…last year? the year before? I don’t know. I like crocheting bags and toys, as I think it creates a sturdier fabric than knitting, which I prefer for making garments…
My other interests include Blythe dolls (I have two XD) and my 3 dogs (Spread out over both parents’ houses) Elmo, Maggie and Gertie. My occupation? High School student.
So, um…current projects. I am making the ‘Touch of Folklore Wrap Jacket’ form Patricia Wagner’s ‘Chich Knits for Stylish Babies’ For Ruby Rose, a family friend’s baby who was born on the fifth of January… I know, kinda overdue but hey… So far I’ve done the back and a bit of the right front…

Not a flattering photo, but oh well. My other WIP is a pair of lace gloves for a friend. I have done 1.75ish gloves…the first one is done apart from finishing; i need to weave in ends and add pearl buttons. Also, It has developed a giant lump around the thumb increases which I will need to fix
